V is for Valentine is our theme for this week’s preschool at home. In addition to several other Valentine’s Day crafts, we made this V is for Valentine craft. I used it as a lesson about the shape of the letter V, as well as the heart shape, and some letter-writing practice.
To do this V is for Valentine preschool activity you’ll need:
- construction paper
- glue (liquid glue works best)
- scissors
- chipboard (I used a cereal box)
- conversation hearts
- marker or crayon
Cut a heart shape out of the cereal box. This step is optional, but I think using a stencil made it easier for my preschooler to see the V becoming a heart.
Trace the bottom of the heart – the V – onto the construction paper. Have your child glue conversation hearts around the V.
Now trace the rest of the heart onto the paper. Maggie literally gasped when I pulled the stencil away and revealed a heart shape. Glue conversation hearts onto the rest of the heart.
To finish the craft, I helped Maggie write “is for Valentine” underneath the conversation heart shape.
Susie–this is Hillary. I watched 2 kids today and we did this V is for Valentines craft. I am not good at letting my own kids do crafts but today was a success. They turned out really cute– I may do a blog post on this soon. Thanks for the idea
