Summertime Treat: No-Drip Popsicles Made With Jell-O

Homemade Jello Popsicles Recipe

I’ve been wanting to try Jell-o popsicles for a while. I heard that the gelatin keeps the popsicle from dripping everywhere. Good idea, right? I found dozens of different recipes for Jell-o Popsicles, so I experimented with a couple. Here are the results.

Homemade Jello Popsicles Recipe Ingredients

All you really need to make Jell-o popsicles is Jell-o and water. You could just make regular Jell-o and freeze it in popsicle molds. I don’t have popsicle molds. I used mini ice cube trays with toothpicks, and disposable plastic cups with little plastic spoons.

I tried two recipes. The first was like frozen Jell-o Jigglers.   It was gummy and slushy, and really good.  The second was more like no-drip Kool-aid popsicles with the gelatin keeping the popsicle from dripping too much.

Homemade Jello Popsicles Recipe

Jell-o Jigglers Popsicles
1 6 oz package Jell-o
1 cup boiling water
1 cup cold water

Dissolve the Jell-o in the boiling water. Stir in the cold water. Put the liquid in popsicle molds in the freezer.

Homemade Jello Popsicles Recipe

No-Drip Kool-Aid Popsicles
1 3 oz package Jell-o
1 pkg unsweetened Kool-aid
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups boiling water
2 cups cold water

Mix the dry Jell-o, Kool-Aid, and sugar. Dissolve the dry ingredients in the boiling water. Stir in the cold water. Fill your popsicle molds and freezer.

You could try mixing flavors, but I just did strawberry Jell-o and strawberry Kool-aid.

This big popsicle was the Kool-aid one I made in a plastic cup.  She ate the entire thing without a single drip.

Another tip to keep popsicles from dripping on your kids’ clothes is to cut a slit in the bottom of a silicone baking cup and slide the stick in.
