5 Things You Should NEVER Pay For

July 7, 2015 by Bekah Leave a Comment

Money - 5 Things

As prices for pretty much everything continues to climb, there are some items you simply NEVER have to pay for!  Spend your hard-earned money on other things and grab these for FREE!

1. Movies:

Your local library has many educational DVDs available to borrow for FREE.  Children’s shows such as Sesame Street and Elmo’s World can be checked out, usually for a week or two.  Adult documentaries are sometimes available as well.  Our local library also offers blockbuster and other non-fiction DVDs and Blu-ray for only a couple dollars and the rental period is a couple weeks.  You can also sign up for emails at Redbox.com and get FREE codes.  Sometimes they even text them to you.

2. Books:

Of course your local library is a great source for those who love the traditional paper and hardcover books.  Our county library system allows special orders from over a dozen local libraries.  Sometimes they will even special order a book if the demand is high enough.  Prefer the electronic books?  There are always thousands of Kindle books available on Amazon for FREE.  Many classic fiction books are available to instantly download for FREE.  Need a book on a certain topic?  Do a search and then narrow it down by price lowest to highest.  An entire list of $0.00 books with come up.  Amazon Prime members are also able to borrow a select book for FREE once a month.  Kindle Unlimited members pay $9.95 a month and can download any hundreds of thousands of books (up to 10 at a time) and keep them as long as you are a member.  It’s not exactly free, but close!

Don’t have a Kindle device?  No problem!  You can download FREE Kindle Reading Apps onto your phone or other electronic devices.

3. Travel Size Items/Samples:

Sites like FreebieShark.com make it really easy for your to find tons of FREE samples.  It’s a great way to “try before you buy.”  However it’s also a fantastic way to get soap, shampoo, toothpaste, and other travel sized items for FREE.  It might take a few months, but you should be able to build up a large enough stash that you NEVER have to pay $1 or more at the grocery store for travel toiletries for your next vacation.  Another idea is to sign up for Bath and Body Works coupons.  I just received some in the mail today for a FREE travel-sized item with no purchase needed!  This happens several times a year.  They have lotion, body wash, and travel spray.  Pick from several of their great scents for FREE!  Tip:  These items also make great stocking stuffers.

4. Kids Meals:

Many restaurants offer email specials and coupons for FREE Kids Meals on certain nights of the week.  You can also sign up for FREE Birthday Meals.  Check the websites of the restaurants near you to find out the deals.

5. General Freebies:

Make sure you check out like Craigslist or Freecycle, Locals in your area are always offering things for free and you can request items as well.  Craigslist has a “FREE” section and Freecycle allows you to receive give-aways and requests from your local areas.  You can find anything from toys, baby items, home decor, and more.  You name it, people are usually giving it away.
