HOLIDAY POPCORN BALLS
3 qt. salted popped corn
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
1/2 c. light corn syrup
3/4 c. water
3 Tbsp. butter
red and green food coloring
Divide corn into 2 ovenproof bowls and place in low
oven. Mix sugar, syrup and water in large heavy saucepan.
Stirring until all sugar is dissolved, heat slowly. Cook until
syrup reaches 250 degrees. Transfer half syrup to
another pan and add coloring (red to one batch and green to the
other). Pour tinted syrup over warm popcorn and mix. Shape
popcorn balls, being careful not to crush them. Wrap each
ball in wax paper square, pulling ends together at top of ball.
Secure gathered paper ends with bright Christmas ribbon.
