Make a list, check it twice...and then STICK TO IT!

I love lists. I have lists for my lists.

To save money on groceries I keep a list of what I currently have on hand. Pantry, Freezer, and Fridge- it all gets written down. What we have and how many of each item. When we use something up or get really low on something regularly used- It get put on the "To Buy" List.

Every week or every other week depending on what we really need to buy, I check my grocery sales fliers, clip my coupons I intend to use (after checking the match ups!). Then I add those items to my shopping list.
On shopping day I take my coupons, my handy dandy list and then I (and here's the trick....) STICK TO IT. No impulse buys. No, "oh I might need that someday in the future" and no to that chocolate bar at the checkout (that is probably the hardest part of all!). But the reward? Knowing I planned my trip, I have an idea of what I'm spending, and by sticking to my list I can be sure to stay within my budget! t the end of the day that might be a greater reward than that chocolate bar ( hey, I said might be).
