Pros: comfort, beauty, color options, easy to clean
Cons: No toy bar, doesn't move on its own, outgrown quickly, straps bulky and ill-fitting
I purchased this gorgeous baby lounger 4 years ago for my first daughter. Now, I am using it again for my youngest daughter who is 2 months old. I actually contacted the designer of the lounger because I was so frustrated with this product when I first purchased it. The lounger is very cold, being leather, and I found I always needed to put extra blankets in it because it is huge for a baby of this age. There is now an insert sold for it (which I do have and love). I recommend using the insert to make the seat cozier for baby.
The straps have leather covers which look nice, but are just awkward. They may meet the industry standards, but they are so inflexible that they are ridiculous when in use. I suggest removing the leather covers. The nylon straps are much better, but are so loose on the tightest setting that they still don't fit my 2 month old. On the upside, my 2 month old isn't going to fall from the lounger as it is deep and she isn't rolling over yet.
The baby lounger also lacks an activity bar. When your child is in this seat, they will be able to look around and see the world, but that won't keep them entertained for long! I learned how to attach some plastic rings to the side and put toys on them so that the baby at least has something to play with.
The lounger claims to be "self-rocking", but at 5 months old, my older daughter could not rock the lounger at all. By the time she might have been able to do so, she had outgrown it entirely.
Portability is also an issue. This product is super heavy and lacks any handle, so moving it really requires both hands. Certainly carrying a baby and moving to another room with the lounger is not recommended.
I noticed the seat is for birth to 26 pounds. A little googling found that the average child is 2 years old when they get to this weight. Once your little one is on the move, it is doubtful they will have interest in the seat. My older daughter lost interest once she could crawl at around 7 months. Therefore, for the current cost, you are looking at around $25 a month (based on 7 months of use). I think it's worth it!
On a positive note, my daughter does seem to love lounging in the seat. It seems to be at the perfect angle for her to see a lot, but still be laying down. I have learned to rock it myself with my foot to keep her happy. It may not have toys or bells and whistles, but it looks fantastic in our modern home. Also, when I contacted the company with my concerns, they were all ears! They replied quickly and thoughtfully which was much appreciated.
