Pros: You'll be squirting Diet Coke out through your nose

Cons: If you're offended by the F-bomb, beware

Jenny Lawson is a hilariously funny, sharp-witted blogger (thebloggess.com).  Let's Pretend This Never Happened reads more like a collection of blog entries, less like a memoir.  That is obviously her forte.  It will have you laughing out loud many, many times (you may want to avoid reading it in waiting rooms, while your husband is trying to sleep or while drinking soda). If laughter is the best medicine, this book is the equivalent of an economy-sized bottle of Zanax.

In the book, Ms. Lawson takes you from her formative years as the daughter of a taxidermist in Wall, Texas to her present-day life as a wife, mom and blogger.  It gives you some great insight into why and how she became the woman she is today.  As a fellow child of the 80s, I related to her pop culture references and memories of growing up in a small, "in-the-sticks" town.  All that was great, but my favorite chapter was in the last part of the book in which she and a friend purchase a giant chicken, name it Beyonce, and use it in a grown-up game of ding-dong ditch.  HILARIOUS.  I now want a big chicken too, and will name it Solange (Beyonce's lesser-known sister).

What you need to know before you rush out and buy it:  At times, the stream-of-consciousness writing style was a bit hard to read.  Also, if you're easily offended by the F-bomb you may not want to avoid this book.  Her writing style lays it all out on the table.  She's brutally honest and swears like a truck driver.  I was able to overlook those things, and when I closed the book I felt like Jenny was my real-life friend. I wanted to call her to hang out.
