We bought this slide several years ago for my daughter's 2nd birthday.  The best thing about this slide is that she still thinks it's fun 3 years later!  It is a taller slide, so although it's safe and fun for kids from age 2, it's still fun for older and taller kids.  It's more expensive than shorter toddler slides, but the fun factor lasts a lot longer.

The slide is very sturdy. We never bolted in the triangular bases, but they do a great job stabilizing the slide.  It's pretty easy to fold up, but it is still pretty bulky.

The only downside to this slide, if you want to look at it like that, is that it's fast.  The first couple times new friends go down it, they always slide right off at the end and are surprised (and scared, if they're little).  But this is the most popular toy at our house when friends come over. We often have to put it away when there isn't supervision, because kids will sneak to play with it.

We found an "old" version of the Step2 Slide at a Goodwill many years ago when my daughter was little. It didn't fold up. We kept it downstairs in the kids' toy room, and it was a HUGE hit for any friends that came over. Even as the kids started to outgrow it, they didn't want to get rid of it. I agree with all your review points above - just wanted to add that if you have a large space, it's fun for indoor play too.
We had the same slide as Kim, the older version that didn't fold. We also had the best Step 2 pool. The pool had a notch at the end of it and the slide fit into it. Then the kids could slide into the pool. We used the slide outdoors in the summer and then cleaned it and brought it inside for the winter. We bought the pool at a consignment sale for next to nothing but we had to buy the slide for full price at the local toy store. But my kids got about 4 or 5 years of play out of the set. Then we passed them on to my sister who is still using it 6 years later. That Step 2 stuff is built to last!
