outgassing a mattress

We are going to buy our dd a full sized bed next spring. We can't afford an organic mattress. How long do we have to outgas the conventional mattress before letting her sleep on it? I wish I had known about outgassing before we bought the oldest two their big beds. Thanks!

I think like a week in the garage is good. If you can put it in the direct sun it's even better.

I found this and hope it explains it
What's in a mattress? Protecting your child against PBDEs.

My oldest was tested for heavy metals because of some behavioral issues and some of the heavy metals that were found in his hair, stool, blood and urine come from mattresses. Ds's body has a hard time getting rid of the heavy metals but most people's body can rid itself of the heavy metals over time. With that said I just don't like the idea of the chemicals released from the mattresses, new carpet, new cars, etc. for anyone in my family.
