I need some inspiration ladies!

I have a TON of pictures I have been meaning to get into frames and hang up and now with my parents suddenly coming into town this weekend, it's the very thing to get a fire under my behind!

I have an assortment of 5x7 and 4x6 pictures I want to frame and hang.

Any suggestions or pictures of your collages to share?

THANKS!!

I don't , but there was a great article in martha stewarts Living mag last month.
Maybe you could find it online?
It taught you how to hang pictures in a group so they looked really good and professional.
I know they used painters tape to make perfect dimensions.
Also it said to hang all black and white or all color , not to mix the both in the picture wall collage , and of course choose frames that are alike in different sizes.
It looked really good , and I am not a picture hanger. But I would do something like she did if I had alot of pictures.
We only have 5 x 7's and smaller of the kids grouped together on shelves in the family room.

I used to have my "Wall of Fame" up in the hallway. I just have a TON of colored photos in plain black frames. I just put them up randomly in the hallway. I loved the look! We thought about moving though so I took them all down and I just haven't put them back up yet!

The only tip I have is if you're doing a random look like that, put them down on the floor first to make sure it looks balanced.

I don't have any pictures of it, but it probably wasn't a real professional-looking job anyway! I just throw them up in whatever configuration makes me happy!

Something else I have done.

I have a huge silver frame that had a mirror in it. The mirror got broke so I removed it, but kept the frame.

I put the frame on the wall and then put 5x7 and 8x10 pictures in different types frame in it.

Boy did it get attention!

I am no pro at arranging pics. on the walls, but here are a few simple things I have done and a couple of the pics are how I have frames incorporated with other items and not hanging on the wall.

This one is of my parents on one side and my DH's on the other side. Hmmm, I just noticed one frame is a tad higher than the other and my DH was helping me hang these, I guess one of us has an eye higher than the other.

The bottom one my DD bought a collage frame in a plain color and then attached the white rectangles you see on it. Her and her brother took these pics all at home and then arranged them and gave it to me for Mother's Day. I set this frame onto the top of our wall entertainment unit.

5x7 and 4x6 are hard because it is a bunch of small pictures. I like to have one central large picture and work outward on either side with sometimes planting a larger picture on each side to anchor them visually.

For instance, on our family picture wall I have an 11x14 photo of me and hubby in the center. On one side are all the pictures of hubby's family and the other side is my family (like a copy of my parent's wedding portrait). Pictures of friends, kids, and pets are scattered on each side. Little framed sayings fill-up tiny spaces where a picture won't fit.

Because you have mostly smaller pictures, consider grouping some in collage frame around some kind of theme. You can add scrapbooking embellishments to the collage frame to enhance the look, too.

I'd invest in a few nice larger frames (I never did the all the pictures in the same type of frame thing) then buy the rest of the frames at the dollar store or at the Target clearance aisle (or sometimes Big Lots).

Lastly, go ahead and add an interesting twist. If you try to hang every frame just so the slightest error will stick out. Instead make sure it looks random - almost haphazard - so you slight mistakes of where you put the frame don't matter. For instance, I have 4 historic postcards that I framed individually and hung together. The problem is 3 of the postcards are vertical and one is horizontal. How do you hang those? I put two on the top, two on the bottom. The horizontal one is on the upper right corner. People look at the grouping and go "Oh!" That slight difference changes the grouping from ho-hum to noticable.

Scratch pottery barn, couldn't locate anything other than frames for sale.

I found a neat idea on this blog:
