One of mu closest girlfriends is turning 40. I want to get her something special to celebrate her big day. Not wanting to do a gift card, something more personal but I just don't know what. Any thoughts ladies would be soooo appreciated.

If you are like me and my friends, it is so hard to find time to get together. What about doing a spa package or weekend get away for the 2 of you?? SOmething special to pamper her and she'll enjoy the time with you.

I was also going to suggest spa type stuff. Sounds good to me right now! Or you could plan a get away for the two of you. Dinner at a favorite restuarant, tickets to something--it could get pricey, but you get the idea. Someway to spend time together w/o the kids or hubbys (they'll be watching the kids anyway, right :0)
Or maybe a gift basket of some of her favorite things--her favorite drink, candy, favorite music that kind of a thing maybe.

What about making a list of 40 wonderful things about her. Maybe print it out on pretty paper.

My friend turned 40 earlier this year. I too wanted to do something really special for her. What I came up with was two things. The first was a scrapbook. I had several of her friends and family members do pages and we put them together in a book for her (I used a pre packaged product called the Sharebook. It made it really easy. You can check it out on their website www.thesharebook.com.). She loved it! She was crying with each page. The other thing I did was burned a CD of music relating to getting old/time passing and friendship.

If she is a busy mom or wife, I would suggest a facial or mani/pedi. Those are great and highly needed for that busy person!

a friend took me to the movies, another friend gave me a gift basket of my favorite drink, one gave me a meal ticket (when I don't feel like cooking just call her up and she will make dinner for me that night). this friend always has prepared meals for emergencies, she's type AAAAAAAA.:D
the best gifts where ones were us girls spend time together.
I also got babysitting coupons from friends, so I could do something with dh or take time for myself.

For my 40th B-day, some freinds gave me manicures and my cousin put together a little scrap book of me, her and pics she had from us growing up together. I got lots of gag gifts. One of which included an old lady nightgown. It was really ugly and flannel. Something like a Mu-Mu. For my friends 40th b-Day, I got them a cut and color and their favorite salon. to keep the gray out.

I recently stumbled upon one of the best gift ideas ever and it's perfect for any milestone birthday over 40! Messages and kind words from loved ones are usually so much more appreciated than any material objects.

For my friend's 50th Birthday I used "CelebrationJar.com" to create a really memorable gift for her. This website allows you to create a type of memory jar for a special person, but the best part is that the memories all come from their friends and family...not just you. So, I had my friend's relatives and dearest friends send in their favorite memories and stories of her from the many years they have known her. What a hit! My friend was blown away when she read all of the fabulous messages. Definitely, one of the very best gifts I've ever given! She will forever know how very loved and special she is to so many people. Plus, there were many messages that had "advice for life after 50!" which I thought was cute. Good luck!
