What do you buy a 90 year old woman?

My Grandma is about to have her 90th birthday. She lives 7 hours away so I won't be seeing her, but I wanted to get her something. We are close. We don't usually send birthday presents and such, but I wanted to this year since it is her 90th and you never know. . . she isn't in the greatest of health. I wish I could be there, but there are other things going on that she knows about.

She loves Godiva chocolates, but that is $80 with shipping (although I would get 20% back on my Discovercard). Or should I go for the cheaper option of $37 for a birthday tower of 50 Nibbler cookies. Or should I go for the $60 flowers with a box of chocolates. I am having a hard time with this. I think she will be getting a lot of flowers so I wanted to do something different than the other grandkids and children.

My husband did not say no, but he is balking at $80 for a birthday basket of Godiva chocolates, which I understand. He says he would spend no more than $25. Yeah, that's why I order the stuff for grandmothers at Christmas. Shipping on these types of gifts is about $15! Silly man.

I am leaning towards the chocolates because she loves Godiva and it is her 90th. Or do you think that is overkill? If I order today, the shipping is less to get there for her birthday. Here is the link to what I am thinking of ordering:

Happy Birthday Godiva® Chocolate Basket

I would go for the Godiva, you only turn 90 once

I'd get the Godiva basket. Reaching 90 is a huge age milestone that deserves to be celebrated with something big.

I would go for the Godiva too! Not everyone reaches 90...and it definitely needs to be celebrated!

I would also go with the Godiva...although I'm cheap. LOL! I wouldn't spend $80 or $90 on it, I would go with a smaller/cheaper option...$50-$60 is a nice gift from Godiva IMO.

Go to Godiva's the day after Xmas when all their holiday boxes are half off. Buy her a $60 box for $30, and ship it yourself.

I'd go with the chocolates. That's a great, memorable gift idea.

I'd go with the Godiva too. Is there a reason that you couldn't wait to get it the day after Christmas on sale and then ship it yourself? You could even take it to a UPS store for some type of special shipping/packaging to keep the chocolates from getting damaged.

I would go with the Godiva too. That is a super cute basket and Godiva chocolates are wonderful!
