Back to school, 2 hours late and why???

I have no idea why schools are 2 hours late!!!! Ugh!!! I did not even check because it did not snow, we did not have bad weather or any thing!!! We got up and I drop my dd at the high school about 7:05. It is an hour early, but that is when I always drop her, because I have to be at my school early. Only the door is locked and there are very few lights on. She says maybe they are running late being the first day back. So we went to the back of the school. The doors were unlocked. I knew something wasn't right. I started driving away and she calls and says they told her school is 2 hours late, because of the ice! What ice??? I called dh at work (he drove an hour to work this morning with no problem!) and he checks the web site and finds that our school and the 3 surrounding ones are all 2 hours late. So weird. so now we are killing time.

Ugh! I hate it when school starts late. It always seems to mess up the day.

*shrug* Wouldn't bother me...I'd actually appreciate it. But the first day back is always a bit 'rough' for us. LOL

Might not be icey in town but the back roads out in the country might be really slippery?

I guess, but like I said, dh drove to work this morning with no problems and dd and I drove an hour to volleyball yesterday and back last night with no problems. It did not do anything over night! Everything should have been salted and sanded by now. It has not done anything since Saturday!!

I guess it rained overnight, and here was an Ice concern here as well. WE are 2 hours late also. It doesn't looky icy, and it's supposed to warm up to 40 today, but whatever. LOL I got to sleep in today.

Most of the schools around us were delayed 2 hours due to ice we received overnight. BUT my kids school was the only one NOT delayed!

We have a 2 hour delay this morning because of ice that hit Saturday night and our city streets department sucks at getting the streets treated. Side streets are still an ice rink.

I wish they had called late start in our area. It snowed at the WORST time this morning. Other school districts called for a late start, but not ours. Hubby drove DD to the bus stop and the other kids crowded into his little sedan to wait for the bus.

Of course, DD was beside herself excited to go to school today. You'd think she didn't enjoy her time at home.
