Inexpensive Kid's Birthday Party Ideas - Page 4

I am already planning DD's birthday party for this spring. She is going to have an American Girl tea party. We'll have it in my dining room and I will have fancy little finger sandwiches cut into cute shapes, I'll dip strawberries in chocolate and we'll have scones. I will probably do carrots and celery and dip too. It should be lots of fun. The girls are going to come dressed up in pretty dresses and bring their AG dolls with them (we have extras in case somebody doesn't have one to bring). I am going to buy inexpensive straw hats at Michaels and let them decorate them with ribbons and artificial flowers. We'll also make tissue paper flowers for centerpieces. I am trying to figure out how they can make something that might look like a feather boa as another craft but I can't come up with anything yet. The girls will have birthday cake and they will go home. Oh and I am borrowing a pretty tea set from a friend. My only costs will be food, tissue paper and the hats with the items to decorate them. I am going to send out an evite this year so I won't even have to pay for invitations.

For my older daughter who will turn 12, we told her no more big parties. She can have a couple of friends over for a sleepover or I will take them to a movie.

A very good idea for a party! This really sounds wonderful, very simple but I can see it's so cool. Everyone will enjoy it. Preparing for a kid's birthday party is not that easy, especially with limited sources. Anyway, thanks for the idea!

For my 10th birthday my parents let me have a sleepover with a few friends. We built a massive fort in my living room by arranging all the furniture and using lots of blankets. We each had our own little room and there was a "common" room in the middle. My brothers were our servants (don't know how my parents convinced them to do that) and brought us all our food and entertainment for the night. We decorated our cakes in the fort, told stories, and did our hair and nails. The best part was there was no TV, virtually no parents, and we had to use flashlights for everything. It was a blast and looking back, it was very cheap too Definately something I will be doing with my daughter when she is old enough.

As an additional some of kids party ideas gives more color to the party. A fun party could be planned around like field games, relay races, or other active party games. Board games can be fun for an indoor party.

Thanks for all the great ideas. Wish I would have joined this site last month before I spent a small fortune on my sons birthday.

" during the summer you could have a water balloon birthday party! It's tons of fun for all the kiddos (with parents approval of course!)" i love this idea.

You could try to arrange all the things through the website, there are many discounts and promotions, you could find the best one with little money.

I have noticed that it is all about finding the right activity for the guests at your party. Keeping them occupied and entertained is always my top priority. How do you do this? I try to have different stations already setup and ready when the party starts. This way when they get bored at one, you send them to the next. The stations could be anything from decorating cupcakes to a pinata.
