Charlie's Soap vs. Homemade Laundry Soap

Thread Starter
I just can't decide what to do. I haven't had much luck finding the fels naptha or castillo soap although I am still looking. I don't know if I should just buy some charlie's until I can find all the ingredients for the homemade laundry soap.

Anyone have opinions or suggestions or comments on the matter?

Just go w/ the Charlies. I tried making that other soap before and it was a mess, it would NOT dissolve in my washing machine, and it was a lot of work to make. The Charlies works well, dissolves, you use VERY little per load, so it's cheap. It's not worth my time to make the stuff.

I have a 5 gallon bucket of Charlie's Soap. It will be a long time before I have to shop for detergent, one less thing to put on the list. I LOVE it and it is good for the environment.

Have you looked at your grocery store for Fels Naptha? That is where I find it at- it is at the Cub here. I have also seen it at Walmart in the laundry/cleaning aisle. I tried Charlies soap once- just the small bag- I did like it however I found it didn't work very well with items that were stained. I had to rewash a few things so I don't use it anymore.

I didn't use Fels Natha in my homemade detergent---I just used bar of Ivory soap. Worked fine FOR ME. I pretreat stains though so I don't know about how well it would get stains out without pretreating??

Go to google and type in fels naptha - there are lots and lots of online sources. I have also tried the homemade soap recipe, but I did not like how it worked on my husband's really dirty farm clothes. I watch the sales and buy the All Small & Mighty when there is a coupon in the paper AND the buy one get one free at CVS. It's not real real cheap, but there are so many other things that I don't buy, I allow myself this one indulgence.
