Fingernails that turn down at the tips

My fingernails have just started to grow funny - the tip starts to turn down (like it is going to curve over the end of my finger) if I let them get long. At first it was just my index fingers but now it is spreading to my other fingers. This is a relatively new phenomenon.

I googled it and got results that this might be a sign of lung or heart disease. I do have asthma but have had that for a long time. I'm just now switching my arthritis meds to something that is better for my heart and less stress on my liver. However, I still take 5mg of prednisone daily and have for a long time.

The sites also said that B-vitamins might help.

Has anyone else every had this? What did you do?

I have not had it, but I have seen it on others. I didn't know it was something that developed, I had thought that was just the way they had always been. Interesting.

I have always heard, that fingernails, like your eyes, can tell a lot about your overall health. So maybe you are missing an essential vitamin or mineral.

My dd's toenails have always done this. I don't know why or what to do about it though.

My fingernails on my middle and index fingers turned down (beginning years ago with just my index fingers and gradually my middle fingernails began to turn downward as well).  They remained that way for years and I didn't know what caused it.  However, I began taking zinc (one tablet a day) for hot flashes.  Not only did my hot flashes subside, but my fingernails straighten back to normal.

Wish I had known about that years ago!

Maybe this might help you as well.
