Buy things that grow with your child. Often these things are more expensive initially, but save you the expense and storage of buying two or more separate items.

You can get ride-on toys that go from walkers, to ride-ons to tricycles. And Exersaucers that open up and become toys your toddler can stand next to and play with. A convertible carseat is another example; it does the job of an infant seat and a toddler seat. Other examples are cribs that turn into toddler beds, then twins, then double size; A hooded towel that isn't tiny and cheap and will last through toddlerhood; Bottles and sippy cups with interchangable lids; and a booster seat rather than a highchair.

There are also lots of toys that give you ideas for using them for different age/developmental levels. For example, it can be a teething toy, then you use it to teach your child colors or shapes.

Sign up for everything! On websites or in stores! Huggies, Gerber, Pampers, Similac, etc. You will be put onto their mailing lists and they will send you samples and great coupons!!!! Also, American Baby and Baby Talk magazines offer free subscriptions! If you cannot use all of the coupons you can always RAK them to someone else!

My biggest cost saver is making homemade baby food. I've found that when introducing a new food the kids are more likely to eat the homemade stuff than the store bought stuff. For me, it has been really easy to make. Before beginning I did a lot of online research and the best information I've found is on the website wholesomebabyfood.com!

If you are planning to have more kids, use gender-neutral nursery decor and clothing. We will be saving lots with baby #2, whether boy or girl, because we have "Classic Pooh" bedding that can be used for either, painted the room light green, and we have a lot of clothes that can be used for either gender.

This also saved with my daughter, who had a lot of handmedowns from her boy cousins. She loves her green robot PJs just as much as her yellow flower ones.

The Freecycle Network great way to get rid of things you dont need and get a bunch of stuff you do need from fellow community members..... I have gotten formula swings and much more for free one there and when you dont need something anymore then you post it and someone responds and comes and picks it up from you, no dump cost or nothing

I love to check out the consignment shops at the end of the season! They have great discounts to get rid of everything to make room for the upcoming season! One time I went they had fill an entire bag for $20 or $1 and item!!!! Great way to shop!!! Especially, since babies do not wear their clothes for very long!!!!

Never pay full price for diapers and wipes. As other posters have mentioned you can sign up for diaper "clubs" and they will send you coupons every few months. Have friends and family who get the paper give you the diaper coupons that come in there. Even if you don't have any coupons, diapers are ALWAYS on sale somewhere. Check the mommysavers grocery bargains section to find out where!

Also, in the beginning when I started to breastfeed my nipples would crack. I rubbed the milk around after the feeding and let it dry. Cleared up very quickly. I didn't have to worry about putting something on my nipples that could be unsafe for my baby.
