Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make homemade Pam Spray? I use it all the time but hate spending the extra money on it. I found a recipe a long time ago, but lost it. HELP!!!

I just use my fingers to spread a drop of olive oil over the surface I need greased.

Get a reusable spray pump bottle and fill 1/3 with oil. I got a Misto bottle at TJ Maxx for $7.99.

Here's one on Amazon:

Amazon.com: Misto Gourmet Brushed Aluminum Olive Oil Sprayer: Kitchen & Dining

I know that you can buy spray bottles specially made for this purpose at some specialty stores.

I wouldn't use olive oil unless it is all for low-temperature cooking. It can smoke/burn if you are doing high heat pan frying baking over 350.

I use either olive oil or butter to grease anything I bake in - never had a problem, even with high heat baking like biscuits and cornbread (450).
I very seldom deep fry, and olive oil is too expensive to use for that anyway. But I do use olive oil on my cast iron if the seasoning needs refreshing.

I have a Misto as well, but in all honesty it doesn't do nearly as well of a job as store bought spray's. In fact I'm considering putting it in the yard sale box. I just watch the sales and when PAM of generic spray oil goes on sale for $1 a bottle, I buy.

I was doing hand oiling, as another PP mentioned, but I hate the residue on my fingers and using a paper towel to smear is also just another cost to factor in.

Alas, never hurts to try different methods to see if you can come up with an alternative that will fit for your lifestyle and needs.

good luck

I've used those misto things before - had 2 of them - and they broke within the year both times. Some things I do manually. Some things I prefer to spray (like my jello mold). I buy the spray at Aldi - it's way cheaper than PAM.

I just rub the oil left on my fingers into my hands when I'm done - instant moisturizer. Or you can always just wash your hands with warm water and a drop of dish detergent after you finish.
