Taking Chance

DH and I finally sat down to watch Taking Chance last night on HBO (Memorial Day weekend was very fitting for it).

It is based on the true story of Lt. Col. Michael Strobl (Kevin Bacon) escorting the body of PFC Chance Phelps back to his hometown from the war in Iraq.

If you have a box of tissues handy PLEASE sit and watch this movie (on HBO or on DVD), it was so touching.

IMO it was 'okay'. I watched it when it first came out...but I think it could have been SO much better! Argh! LOL

We have not seen it yet , but have several friends who have, and they all loved it. I'll have to try and find it on dvd, since we don't have HBO.

Sounds like something we'd like here.

If there was ever a movie that I would suggest EVERYONE see this would be it.  I can't even describe the amount of emotion it stirs up.

I just watched it again over the weekend (DH just couldn't do it - reminded him to much of his services buddies) and it still just makes me sit in AWE of what great Americans we *can* be.

If you have the chance....watch it!  (...and remember to always thank a service member wink.gif).

We have a friend who was escorting a young girl home and he watched this movie to get an idea of what he would be doing. He said it was so touching and recommended everyone watch it. DH watched it and said the something but I haven't been able to watch it yet in fear that it will bring back bad memories. I would recommend people watch it.

Thanks for the recommendation.  I watched it last night.  It was very well done.  I LOVED how everyone showed such respect for the fallen soldier.  I remember at my cousin's funeral, how when we passed through a small town, all the people stopped and put their hands on their hearts as we passed by.  It really touched me.
