Day One Check In - Page 2

We had a great day. We really stuck with it and I was pleased. My son had a 6:00 baseball game in another town. (We had to leave at 5:00.) Typically I would have went through a drive thru on the way there or back. But instead, I threw some corn dogs in the oven at 4:00. We had an early dinner at home. Then the kids had some popcorn and cheese when we got home. My husband texted me on his way to the game since we were meeting there and said he was going to go through a drive thru. I reminded him of the spending freeze and packed him some corn dogs, potato salad, tomatoes and a plum instead. Woo hoo!!!

So far, so good!

Doing good! I spent $25 on groceries, and my husband ended up working from home so he didn't need lunch out after all.

For frugal fun, we visited great-grandma, did yard work and now my husband is making thank you cards and Father's Day cards.

Today went as planned. I bought milk and apples which were on my list. I did go for a pedicure this evening. It felt wrong to put it on my approved list but it had been scheduled with friends for a few weeks. Yesterday we spent an unplanned $20 on a gas tank refill for our grill. We had burgers ready to go on and figured that it was definitely something that we would have spent next week anyway. Last night we resisted buying a bottle of wine. Why I would start a spending freeze without any wine in the house is beyond me?!?! We'll see how that one goes for the rest of the week.

I was too busy yesterday to check back in, but we spent $0 yesterday. Woohoo! I worked three jobs yesterday and earned a few extra bucks as well.

Made it through yesterday! DH took lunch, we walked to the library, and other than paying bills that were planned (my bills are all due this week and the 1st week of the month), I didn't buy anything!

We may end up with an expected expense though...it looks as though we may have to take our eldest cat in to be put to sleep. It's been coming a while and I'm just not sure she's going to make it much longer.

We usually are stocked up. I tried not plan ahead for the freeze by buying extra things. I wanted to use what we have on-hand instead. I don't know what got into me....not thinking about the empty wine rack??? This may be my biggest challenge for the week!

So maybe I made a huge oversight when writing my approved list ??? Wine could be a necessity that needs to added??
