I have frozen cheese many times. My neighborhood market often has it 10 for $10 and I stock up. I freeze the grated cheese as is.

Love the tip about shredding frozen blocks. What a great idea! I often shred my own cheese, because we love muenster for Mexican night, but I've never been able to find it shredded.

I only ever buy it on sale! And always stock up and freeze the extra, but like you, my family goes through a ton of cheese! So Don't think it ever lasts for 6 months in the freezer lol!

has anyone had any success freezing sliced (not individually wrapped) american cheese? I'm afraid the slices will all clump together when it defrosts.
