...How many of you do this, and how often? Any tips for those of us looking at these venues for cutting our food cost further?

TIA!

Where would I find the salvage or freight location? I am in Brooklyn New York.
I love the idea of cutting costs.

We bought our washer and dryer at a scratch and dent place. Scratches on the sides where you can't see them. They do not affect the function of the machines. We did the same for our stove in our old house in New Jersey. Again, did not affect functionality. Both times we saved several hundred dollars. Sears is a good place for this stuff. There are also many independent sellers out there who only sell scratch and dent items at substantial savings. Needless to say, I only make these purchases when the need arises, so they are far and few inbetween. Still worth it though!
