Room situation

Thread Starter
I have an 18 month old and a 4 year old. They are currently in separate rooms, but I am thinking about moving them into the same room, and making the third bedroom a play room. It seems they always play together, and toys get moved from one room to the other. I would keep the bedroom for just the beds, cloths, and maybe quiet toys like puzzles and books. I'd like to get some input. Thanks

Sounds like a plan to me!

When they get older, they will want their own rooms, and then you can separate them.

I know this may sound silly but what does your 4 year old think? Just speaking as an older sibling here and since you don't need the room for something else (another baby, etc.) I would see how they feel about sharing a room.

I think it sounds like a great idea though. I'll have to keep it in mind if our next one is a girl.

We did that for a little while with our 3 girls (who are 2 years apart). My oldest wanted to be in the same room as her little sisters (who are twins), so we moved them in together. Her room then became the play room. It lasted a few months, and then, she wanted her own space again. They still do sleepovers sometimes, but I think my oldest likes having her own room....most of the time.

I think it is a great idea - my boys do not need to share a room (they could each have their own), but they actually really enjoy sharing a room (for now anyway). Plus, I think they really bond over their nightly talks together. I like them sharing, too I do know they will eventually want to separate, but they can stay together 'til then...
