This is a great money saving tip. It will be one of the harder tasks for me because I am so last minute about the food.

I keep track of what is available on hand but never plan menues. I never know what I may be hungry for. When I cook I always double the main part of the meal and then freeze it. For example the other day I cooked up a Turkey, we ate what we wanted and I cut up, bagged and froze the rest including the liquid. If I fry up ground beef I do several pounds at once, bag and freeze. If I make Pasta I bag and freeze half. We pull out what we have an appettite for. I keep lots of potatos, boil in bag rice, and frozen veggies at home so never have to worry about sides. Then there are times we just on the spur decide to eat out like our Free trip to Captain D's the other night for Fish n-fries. (Get coupons for joining thier online site) With there being just the 2 of us menu planning does not fit our life style.

As for the holiday parties I already have on hand plenty of things to make and take as ours will be informal gathering.

What perfect timing! I was just tempted to drive thru tonight thinking that I was not motivated to make dinner. I pulled something together with some leftovers and it worked out, but I know that over the next two weeks, the drive thru will continue to be tempting. Just say no! LOL

I'm so proud...I did this this past week. I did not want to get stuck buying my holiday groceries when the market is so full of people it takes a 1/2 hour just to get through the line. Today I will be sitting down and deciding what I can cook ahead of time and freeze, and the time schedule for all the measl that need to be in the oven on Christmas.
