Day One Check-In - Page 2

We are trying to get as much to the basics as we can:

Besides bills here is what I am spending on:

Car Registration
Car inspection (both were up yesterday YIKES)

one fill up for each vehicle per week.... we will be trading cars if DH runs low, because besides DSs classes and MOPS and church I will not be running to the store etc.

50.00 for the entire 21 days for groceries- milk, bread, cheese, fruit, veggies, diapers, etc.... this is cutting WAYYY back for me

10.00 DHs hair cut.
.. no I can not cut it myself tried, failed, he really does not want to walk around looking like a dork for 21 days... I do not blame him!!

That is it! No birthdays, not shopping, no entertainment that we have to pay for

Here's my list of approved purchases:

Groceries: milk, bread, cheese, eggs, lunch meat, fresh fruit (bananas and apples), and meat if needed (though my goal is to use up the meat in our deep freezer)

Gas for vehicles

Bills that are due will obviously get paid :-)

Unexpected approvals: meds if needed, dr. co pays, etc.

New bathroom rug (already bought one that is too small, need to exchange and pay the difference for the larger size)

Gift card purchases: I have a couple Christmas gift cards and I am giving myself to use them for items that I decide I want or need, doesn't come from my budget so I say it's OK!

Approved spending: Groceries (I am going to attempt $175/2 wks. instead of $225), Gas, Bills of course (all budgeted.) I have a lot of birthdays this month, but will only buy a gift for my nephew, the rest understand.

Our health ins. is going up $140/month. So I am going to have to find ways to trim our budget and still hope that the family members' tummies feel full. It will be tough. But, we have had tough times before and come out of it better people!

Grocery – perishables only. We are going to eat down our pantry.
Gas for vehicles - though I am going to limit my driving as much as I can and try to only fill up one time.
Regular bills
Haircut and color for me (way overdue and this is definitely a NEED for me), one haircut for DH
Girl scout cookies from DD (she’s a Daisy and it’s her first year selling)
Extra newspapers for coupon inserts (5 inserts this weekend!)

1) food - I plan to only buy groceries we need for that week and hope to stay at $125 a week, max. The pantry is pretty low right now and we have no meat except for some leftover ham & a bag of chicken tenders. No more sodas during this time for me, I have a case, if I run out, I will make iced tea.

2) gas as needed
3) dog food & TP, fine on other household items
4) bills
5) DD's birthday food - we bought the decorations on sale a few months ago, got the candy buffet items (party favor) on clearance after the holidays, just need food & cake, will need gifts but her party is before her actual bday late in the month after the challenge
6) car registration - thanks to poster that reminded me of that expense!

My approved spending list:

Bike (daughter's birthday is tomorrow)
Sandwich Steak, Curly Fries (daughter's birthday dinner - making it instead of going out)
Bread
Milk
Fresh fruits/vegetables for lunches (I'll get what's on sale when we run out)
Toilet paper
Gas to get to and from work

We have plenty of meat and veggies frozen, so we will make dinners with this and what we have in the pantry.

Bills due will get paid.

Can't wait to see how I do!!!!
