How often do you replace your sheets and towels?

How often do you replace your sheets and towels?

Just wondering how long your sheets and towels last your family before you have to replace them. Do you buy new ones or thrift store, garage sale ones?

It has been a very long time, longer than I can remember since I have had to replace any towels, besides dishtowels. I ran across a garage sale this summer that was selling their deceased mothers belonings so I was able to replace alot of dishtowels. A friend of mine also gave me a bunch of sheets that they had extra when they moved so that has covered the need for new sheets for the many extra beds we have had to put up around here.

I really don't know how often I replace these things. I have not kept track. Let's see, I am pretty sure that I get new sheets (for our bed, not the guest beds) at least once a year. I tend to move the towels out to DH's shop once they look worn. I'm not sure how often this is though.

I rotate my sheets and towels, so they don't get worn out much.

But I do buy new sheets sets when they go on sale.

The old sheets and towels go to the garage for the cars.

Cringe... probably once a year!

I just got new sheets for a Christmas gift DS needs new towels I have been washing his every 4 or 5 days for 20 months and they look terrible. We have well water which is hard on stuff (i think). We got 10 new towels last year for Christmas ... they are looking crappy... I will probably buy new when I see a good sale at JcPenny and have a coupon. Right now we have Target towels and they really got shabby fast..

I have about 3 towels and 3 wash clothes that are for guest... so our poor guest do not have to see our horrible looking towels!

I don't keep track either. When they get too holey or ragged, they become dog bedding and I get new ones.
If I can find them cheap at a thrift store or on clearance, groovy. If not, I just buy whatever is the best bargain at the time.

I am glad I am not the only one, who brings out towels and washcloths for "guests" to use.

In fact I have a basket that holds towels, wash clothes, soap, new toothbrushes for guests.

Dh thinks that guests should use the same towels/washcloths that we do

I buy new sheets for DS bed at least once a year, teen boys just wear stuff out more. My sheets get rotated and I have not gotten new sets since 2003. I have guest towels I bought last year on sale at JCP, but the bath towels DS and I use I bought in 1997. They are large bath sheets and of great quality. Wash cloths we seem to go thru more frequently so about every 3-5 years. You can extend the life of towels that start to unravel around the edges by sewing on binding or a strip of decorative cloth.

Rarely. We are still using towels we got when we got married almost 25 years ago! My kids have some sheets that I had as a kid.

Sheets--probably every 5 years or so. I buy 2 sets and rotate them--I also buy only white sheets because I feel like they last longer due to not looking faded. Towels are every few years--I buy white ones there too. I also have guest towels

We just bought new sheets a few months back. We probably replace them every 5 years or so. We only have one set of sheets for our bed, and I wash them quite regularly, so they do tend to wear out.

Towels really depends. I have guest towels in the downstairs bathroom, and those we've had for years. Our regular towels get replaced once they start fraying really bad and get holes in them. We have some towels from when we got married 13 years ago.
