Do you need to purge the kids toys after christmas?

I think we need another minor purge of toys. I plan to work on that in the next month. How about you are you ready to purge some more stuff?

Yes we usually do a purge BEFORE the holiday but this year I was too booked up with life that I didn't have time.

Now that we have 3 kids, purging isn't as easy as most of the toys we purged the years before were toys the kids outgrew. Now they have a little brother that will play with the stuff they've outgrown.

What I've specifically saved are The Little People playsets. And those take up alot of space!

Nope. We came home one Sunday after church in Nov. and it was cold and rainy so we dumped them all out in the floor and went at it. Hauled a huge amount to Goodwill and made lots of room in his closet.

Been doing that as well as getting rid of clothes that they can't wear. It is amazing at how clean their rooms are now.

BECAREFUL with this thinking. I am in the same boat. I have 3 girls ages 11, 9 and 6. well, I just kept most of the stuff because it's still getting used. However, I have 6 play horses. Which I used to think was good because I have enough for when a friend or two come over. I have WAY TOO MUCH. I am ready to PURGE!

The Little People sets are the ones that I keep too. Now that they are getting older I am thinking of selling them or donating.

I tried to do purge it seem always that the majority of it is small junk stuff anyway so I would rather get rid of that and save room for the bigger more useful things.

Nope I don't. I went through all the toys and clothes before Christmas. Although, since Christmas I need to do some additional organizing in the kid's bedrooms.

I normally do it just before christmas - I look at anything that she has out grown her and pack that away for the next one. anything that is broken gets chucked.
I have had to reduce her soft toys as she had her single bunk bed top filled with them. I need to still give those to charity - I had to sort through them and took out the favorites or the ones that were unusual.

We definately need a purge, but to be honest, dd still plays with everything & I hate to make her give up things that she is still going to play with...

I need to get rid off all the little piecey toys that end up scattered all over the floor. And the Happy Meal toys that get played with for a week and then never touched again. I've been trying to only buy bigger, more solid toys that don't end up in a million pieces b/c I am usually the one who ends up picking them up. I also need to go through ds's clothes and donate or consign them. I will feel much better after that is off my to do list.
