Day Three Check In

Today's assignment is to create a family mission statement. Has anyone done this project before? Do you have any words of advice or encouragement for those who haven't? How has having one helped you?

How is the spending freeze going? Remember, weekends are often the hardest days of the week to stick to a no-spending regimen. It's still not too late to join us or start the freeze tomorrow.

Well, the spending freeze is not going too well. Woke up this morning to go purchase a newspaper and found that DH's car had a flat tire. So had to transfer some money out of savings to get 2 new front tires!! UGH!!! Good thing we had savings though!

Spending freeze is going ok, only spent $15.53 on the approved spending list since joining, I still feel as if I could do better. This isn't very easy for me but I'm trying really hard

Spending freeze is going well. We ate at home after church Did have to go to the grocery store and buy Iams cat food. Not one morsel left inthe house but I had a $3 off coupon. Kitty and I are both happy. So, $6.38 for today but it was approved.

It's just going alright. Last night, we got take out :-( I know, I know...bad since I hadn't put that on my approval list. Luckily, it's not a terribly expensive place and we were able to have the leftovers for lunch today. Grocery shopping after church was good. Only spent $20 to pick up some basics since I hope to menu plan around the pantry/deep freezer.

I'm bummed that I so quickly cheated with the take out. That's such a hard one for me since we usually do it once a week.

Still trucking along with the spending freeze. We spent $2.68 for the double Sunday paper today. Leftovers for lunch. This afternoon I hope to do some menu planning using what we have here - and then make a grocery store run to fill in what we need.

The mission statement was an interesting assignment. We did it with the kids - we used this website as a general guide:
Mission Statement Builder | Mission Statement Example, Sample | FranklinCovey
(to do the mission statement is free - when it gave us ours at the end - I copied it into a word document so we can add the financial part)

It walked us through general questions about what we wanted for our family. Dh and I will go back and add our financial goals this evening - but I thought the website generated a good start as to what we want for our family. I enjoyed hearing what the kids thought were good goals - and I typed in their answers right with ours!
