Day Thirteen Check In

Happy Wednesday, Everyone! Is frugal fatigue beginning to set it? Are you getting tired of the spending freeze? Apparently it is for me, and I have a confession.

Yesterday, I went to the grocery store for the first time since the freeze began. I had necessities on my list like milk, eggs, and a few fresh produce items. Well, my big mistake was going at 5:00 when I was hungry for dinner. Everything looked and smelled fantastic. Avocadoes on sale? I can make guacamole! (Not on my list). Strike one. I also spotted a bunch of meat reduced for quick sale and couldn't resist buying a few packages (even though we still have meat in our freezer). Strike two. And, look -- croutons are on sale! They'll go with the bagged salad I just put in my cart! (nevermind the fact I know how to make them at home for a fraction of that oh-so-good sale price). Strike three.

I emerged from the grocery store with a whole bunch more food than I had planned and $40 less in my pocket. Spending mistakes aside -- today's a new day, and luckily I have a little bit of renewed energy having a stocked refrigerator and a bunch of yummy ideas for meals. I have decided to forgive myself and jump back on the frugal bandwagon.

Do YOU have any spending confessions?

uh oh a price book. i've been putting off doing this but I guess that's over LOL. Looking at my receipt right now and inputting the data into excel. it's a little rainy here today so I might go visit my inlaws and go to the library. Not planning on spending a dime today!

BUT, I must say that while on this freeze, other than spinach, apples, bananas, milk and bread, we haven't spent ANY OTHER MONEY!!!

I love the idea of a price book. Up until now, most of my price comparing had been done in my head, but I'm sure this will be much more reliable!

Spending freeze confession? None that I haven't already confessed to - but in case you missed it - 12 bottles of 16 oz. creamer at $.99 each = $12.00 that was NOT on my approved spending list. Maybe one creamer, even two - but not 12. Oh, here's another one. Windshield wiper blades - probably a necessity - but probably could've waited until AFTER the spending freeze.

I can't believe it's already day thirteen. Wow.

I confess. I bought two blouses at Old Navy yesterday for work (which was technically on my approved spending list as it's a new job). It's 90+ degrees in the office and my sweaters were too hot. (I'm normally always cold. Love that it's warm but I didn't have appropriate work wear that was cool enough.)

I confessed the other day - I bought new bedding for when we move into our new house - I even admitted it to everyone (facebook and other forum friends) - and since they didn't understand my need to participate in a spending freeze in the first place, they all congratulated me LOL. I even put it on the credit card :duh: - but it was back in stock and I was afraid I wouldn't get the chance to get it again (and I have been looking for just the right set for over a year) - so that is my confession

I have to get gas in my suv today - thats approved, but I sure hate to see that $36 spending, alas. But I won't spend on anything else until Monday!!

Yep. Confession. I went to Sonic and bought a HUGE tea during happy hour. It was $1.07. Went to doctor and I have a sinus infection and viral throat thing. it felt good to have something cold to drink while I waited in line at the pharmacy for over 45 minutes! The bad part? I went again this morning after taking the kids. I will refill it from home in the morning so I won't be tempted again.
