What is the best time of day, or day of the week to grocery shop for you?

I like going to Walmart in the morning, because that's when they put out their day old bakery products for 40% off. By afternoon it gets picked over. If I see something I like, I get a bunch of it to freeze. Do you have similar strategies or tips?

I go early in the day for two reasons. I like that it's not busy so I can take my time comparing prices, etc. My favorite store also marks down all of their meat in the cases on Tuesdays and Fridays before they restock for the day so I am often able to get really good deals.

I go on Wed. around 8 in the morning.

That is my day off, I can take my time and it isn't crowded.

I don't shop on weekends! It's too crowded and all the good deals are picked over by then, I haven't figured out yet when my stores mark down meat but I would love to know!

I go while my kids are in school. I spend a lot less when I shop alone. Since we haven't lived here very long I haven't figured out when the markdowns happen either.

I run into stores after work before picking up my daughter from the sitter's house. Like trying2bgood, I spend less when I go alone. Plus, when I am time crunched (trying to get home to make dinner), I stick to my shopping list and don't make impulse buys.

I do go to Walmart in the evening sometimes, but the day old bakery items are gone.

When I drop the kids off @ school. It is early enough and it's not crowded. I love our Wal-Mart @ 7:30AM, it feels like you have the store to yourself

I go in the mornings too, usually on a Tuesday. I shop at Walmart, and I've found that going in the morning helps me avoid two of the common complaints: rude cashiers, and long lines. I can pick my cashier, and make sure I get someone who won't give me grief over coupons and won't be slow. And I hardly ever have to wait in line.

I like to go about 8 AM, after I drop DS off at school. The stores and stocked-up, but not many customers.

After I drop off my preschooler, I go to the grocery store on Tuesdays. The shelves are restocked and there are only a few people in the store. I check out the reduced meats first. I buy organic but can often find it reduced to a very decent price.
