yellow cake mix, 2-layer size
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup pancake syrup
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 cup butter, melted

Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Pour batter into 2 8-inch cake pans.

Bake 10 minutes in a 350° oven. Remove pans from oven. Sprinkle chopped evenly over both cakes. Combine pancake syrup and cinnamon; drizzle over both cakes.

Pour melted butter over both cakes; do not spread or stir. Return to oven and bake 15 minutes longer. Cool slightly and serve warm.

**You can also make this in a bundit type pan and add chocolate chips

I made this for my Sunday school classes this weekend. I had a couple pieces left and we brought them with us on our trip. They sure were good this morning with McDonald's coffee. I just kept them in a cooler and they were fine.

Ruthie, do you poke holes in the cake to help the liquid soak in? You know....like a poke cake? Or just pour it on top? Also, does this make 2 coffee cakes? Or you stack them on top each other?

No you just pour it over the top and then put it go back into the oven. Yes it makes two cakes. You can also put it in a long cake pan, but for some reason in the round rounds it is more moist and more of a coffee cake texture.
