Do your toddlers/preschoolers like to play by themselves?

Or do they have to have your attention all the time?

Mine are usually pretty good about finding something to do or play with while I am busy.

Mine have always been pretty good at playing alone, although the older two especially would rather play together. My youngest son though (2 1/2) can play alone forever. He lays down on the floor with a car or train or something and will just roll it back and forth for a long time. He's so quiet then too. It's pretty cute!

Yes, M is so good about reading, or coloring, or playing "guys" by herself.

Yes. I love it! He will play with puzzles for a 1/2 hour. I swear he has them all memorized by now! He reads books and plays with a little matching game called "Hisss." I can get a whole uninterrupted morning if I need to do chores.

No, DD just now turned 3 and has started playing by herself. Till now, maybe 15-20 minutes was the max.

DS is 2 1/2, some days he's good playing by himself little bits at a time, other times, like this who week, he is litterly clinginng to me, crying "hold me" if I try and set him down or leave the room. He had a fit today because I had to use the bathroom and set him down.

Ds is pretty good about playing by himself. In fact when I am sitting around doing nothing he is quick to play by himself. As soon as I start something he has to have my complete attention. I swear he is a cat sometimes. LOL!

DD#1 has always been one to play by herself from a young age.  DD#2, not so sure, since she has big sister to play with, but I think she plays on her own a lot too.
