Blogging for money? - Page 2

Hi Missy,

Technically, I don't have a blog YET that earns income. But I'm currently interning at Profitable Mommy Blogging for a very successful WAHM blogger-Kelly McCausey-whose doing quite well.

You can make a living blogging. But you have to have a business built into the blog. Many bloggers miss this. Writing blog posts is not a business. As with any other business, you need to have a plan for making money. Stripped of a blogging platform what do you have to sale?

Will you be a advertising source (by affiliate marketing, adsense, banner ads) for other companies to sell their items on your blog? If so, you need to focus on building traffic (through article marketing, youtube videos, SEO, social media, blog commenting) to your site, increasing your search engine ranking and page rank. You need to get eyeballs in front of those ads in order to get paid. Locate affiliate programs that pay better commissions-for digital products check Digital Products Retailer: Affiliate Program & Sell Online - ClickBank. They have plenty of ebooks and membership sites dealing with cooking/weight loss that you can promote. For an "extensive" list of all types of affiliate programs in one place go to Affiliate programs - Learn from an affiliate marketing veteran

Will you sell your own products? Will they be digital information books with tips/strategies for saving money? Or maybe some videos? Then create the product and get it up and ready for sale on ejunkie.com or clickbank.com. Start promoting your ebook through articles, blog commenting, social media, guest blogging etc. If they're physical and you created them try etsy.com or ebay.com.

Will you sell services/coaching/consulting? If so, get a page up on your blog describing the services you will offer readers and for what price. Maybe you can teach a class on scouring the web for deals. Get out on social media sites and related blogs and let people know your an authority in the area of saving money.

All the best,
Keisha

My take on it is, blog for the love of it. Choose subjects that you are interested in, and if you make money while doing it, that is great too.

I think people are attracted to blogs that are genuine, and if it is all advertisement and poor quality, they won't be back. Blogging for me is therapy, and if I find something interesting or of value, I share with others.

Keep at it, and the followers will come.

Hello. I really am not looking to make money blogging but it would be nice eventually. I am new to blogger and I am a beginner for sure. I was just wondering if any of you ladies could help me finding ways to get those facebook buttons on my blog and how you do it. I see all kinds of blogs that have them but I have not figured it out yet. Also if you know of any sites that would help me learn about blogging that would be awesome!

thanks

Tara

I decided I'm not going to try and make any money off it right now. I only have 6 real followers, and I know it takes time to really build up a following. Plus I don't blog as oftenn as I should, nor do I write about anything really intersting. LOL When I build up my following a bit more and really think about going somewhere with this, I might rethink the revenue portion of it. For now, its just pretty much 'for fun'. Most of my ideas I already post on mommysavers anyway, and I end up repeating myself! LOL

When I started about a year and half ago, I did not think I was ever going to get followers on my blog or make money from it. It does take a while. I also did not know anything about affiliates until 8 months ago. I do use a few that I am making a little money from right now, but you do need to stay at it. The bloggers that are making good money, have a lot of followers and have been at it for years. So it will take a while, but if you love what you are doing, then stick with it.

I use the following affiliates (below)- search the offers they have and match it up with your blog content. Make it seem natural that you are talking about that subject. There are many offers and ones I use are about coupons, savings, etc, so it matches the content of my blog. I only post offers that I would sign up for myself.

My Savings
Escalate Network
Logical Media
Commission Junction

Giveaways are a great way to get people to your blog and if you have interesting content they will come back, not just for the giveaways. Here are a few places that I get giveaways from!!

Mom Select
My Blog Spark
Giveaway Blogs

Blog hopping is another way to help get people to your blog. Visit other blogs and follow them, leave a comment that you are a new follower or you like something they wrote and usually they will follow back.

It is alot of work and it will not happen over night, but if you stick with it, it can be a small part time income. I figured I was already sharing my shopping trips and savings with my friends and family, so why not share with others. And if I am sharing with others, why not try and make a little money from it as I go!!
