I actually agree with this philosophy. The only reason we don't use the heirloom china more is that it's trimmed with gold leaf, and it flakes off in the dishwasher, so when we wash it, we can't put anything else in the dishwasher with it. And no, I am not going to hand-wash it. The only things that get hand-washed are the few things that are too big to fit in the dishwasher.
