Can you/do you donate old kitchen knives?

I know this sounds like a silly question, but I was wondering if it's safe to donate old, unused kitchen knives to charity?

I've decided to start getting rid of things in my kitchen that I haven't used in a long time and I've discovered I have way too many knives that I never use that are still in good shape. What are my options?

You can donate them to Salvation Army, Goodwill or any thrift store. They will even ask you if you want a tax receipt for a tax write off

You can also post them on Craigslist or Freecycle, but I would just take them to my nearest Goodwill.

the value village here takes them.
they HAVE to be between two pieces of thick cardboard and the cardboard taped tightly though. that way no one cuts themselves and they will unwrap them and put them out.

Good point! I'll need to put some cardboard around mine before I donate them.
