I heard on the news that a boy was electrocuted while on his computer during a thunderstorm.

Do you get off the computer when lightning is happening?

I do, but dh doesn't. He was struck by lightening when he was a kid and I swear he thinks he's immune to it now.

Tell him I once knew a guy who throughout his life has been stuck by lightning 4 times.

The girls do not shower or take a bath during a thunderstorm, but I have remained on the computer.

I do unplug the laptop and run off the battery when there is a storm

I usually unplug the laptop and run off battery too. I also won't talk on the phone during a storm and there is no baths or showers while it is storming. I have an uncle who was struck by lightning while using a cordless phone.

Yes. I unplug the laptop and desktop when there is a storm.

I unplug the computer from the outlet and also disconnect the internet cable/phone line cable that connects to the back of the computer tower. My mother has had her internet modem fried from a lightening strike before.

The desktop gets shut down, and the laptop usually does unless DH HAS to be on his (for work) then he runs off battery.

We lost one of our computers years ago when a tree out front got struck by lightening and it surged into the house. We didn't have a surge protector on the computer (we do now!) and that fried, a light in our living room and the dishwasher.

And let me tell you, once lightening strikes that close (it literally knocked us out of our bed!) and does that much damage you don't press your luck. I'm still thankful it wasn't worse.

Not unless the power goes out. If the power fails, I turn off the power strip.

And I have never let a thunderstorm stop me from taking a shower.
