Do you think of fruit snacks and fruit rollups as healthy snacks?

My youngest can bring a healthy snack to school.

Evidently this is a great debate . Do you consider fruit snacks and/or fruit rollups to be a healthy snack?

personally i do not. to me its too much sugar to sit on their teeth and empty calories.

I think of them more as candy than fruit... not a big fan of them (altho my kids are!)

I consider them candy/junk food. So no, I wouldn't consider them a 'healthy snack'.

I don't mind them having them occasionally but I consider candy.

I agree. My kids love them, but definitely they count as candy. Just for grins I looked up the nutritional content of them vs jelly beans and 1 pack of Welch's fruit snacks have as much sugar as 10 large jelly beans.

Nope. Just because something has "fruit" in the name doesn't make it a healthy snack. I don't consider apple pie healthy, either (although it sure is yummy).

No I consider them a junk food.

HOWEVER, all my kids friends bring them and my kids felt left out so I compromised with them by buying the organic, lower sugar kind. There are a few brands that make them but I can't remember the name of the roll up we get, it's on the healthy foods lane at Kroger. The Clif Kids Twisted Fruit is good also. They are much healthier and my kids are happy so win-win! :-)

I would think that doesn't qualify, unless it's the 100% fruit puree roll kind.

At our house, they're considered treats. I make sure to buy the kind with fruit juice, but it's only like 10%.
