Dollar Store Crafts: Homemade Fruit Snacks from 100% juice - Page 3

I made the 100% juice snacks this evening, and I'm happy with the results...I used a blueberry/pomegranate concentrate (this batch is for me), added a little lime juice, and a little vegetable glycerin ( to keep them soft) and three packets of gelatin. They came out of the molds cleanly, with a texture that can be described as between a jiggler and a gummy. I think I'll try orange juice next.      Thank's so much, for the great idea

This is a great idea. I didn't know about this. My kids usually get the Anne's Organic Bunny gummies or the Welch's which are both made out of natural fruit juice. Both boys have never had a cavity. I think as long as they maintain good dental hygiene habits there is no reason to not allow them to have some of these once in a while. They don't eat them everyday and if they do they have one of the little baggies which has 5, maybe 6 gummies in there.

I love that you can make these yourself. I'm definitely trying it with my boys. They would love making their own gummies!

Found you via Pinterest.....

I tried these today! My kids LOVE them! I did Berry Blue Jell-O...my 8 yo sons choice & they were simple to make. Then I tried lemonade ones & the 1st batch, I used only 2 pkgs of gelatin & they were softer then the Jell-O ones...so I made another batch of the lemonade ones & used 3 pkgs of the gelatin & they came out firmer! Tomorrow I'm going to make orange juice ones & grape juice ones!

Thank you again for sharing!

Glad they worked out for you!

I made 100% juice snacks with orange juice concentrate... they didn't get very firm, there was too much pulp...however, pink lemonade, and cranberry juice worked well, live and learn...

Fresh pineapple has enzymes that prevent jello from gelling, but canned or cooked pineapple works fine. The heat used for processing denatures the enzymes.

Tried these tonight with grape juice concentrate and they turned out great! I will definitely be looking for different flavors to try :) On another note I am also a Dental Hygienist and have seen a few comments on here about these being just as bad for your teeth as regular fruit snacks. I have to disagree. While they are not the best they are certainly better than the store bought ones that have corn syrup and extra sugar added; Not to mention all of the other artificial ingredients and food colors! These are a much better option in my opinion, coupled with good oral hygiene of course! :)

I am hoping to make the 100% juice fruit snacks from juice concentrate today. But I just want to double check something before I start. Do you make the juice from juice concentrate or atleast let it soften? Or do you just take 1/3 cup of the frozen concentrate and put it in the saucepan?

I just put the frozen concentrate directly in the saucepan.
