The books... can't beat the prices! It's a good idea to pick up popular titles to swap at places like BookMooch and Paperback Swap. You can trade your thrift store finds for books you are looking for... especially ones your library doesn't have.

I was just at our thrift store the other day. I picked up a brand new Juicy Couture hoodie for $1.50! It is so cute and my daughter loves it! I sometimes find the best clothes there! I also pick up kids jeans which I make into adorable skirts as a craft project.

Look at the vases I made with a little spray paint!  These were both each just $.25 at the thrift store.  I see vases like this there all the time.

Look for old dictionaries/encyclopedias to make fun decoupage items out of.  I was at a flea market last week and the seller told me her supplies are up cycled thrift store finds.

My DD would love things made out of sheet music! That could be a fun project. One year for Christmas she bought me an angel that has a skirt made out of accordion folded sheet music. So cute and I love it!!

I have seen old sheet music at thrift stores too.  The "notes" bulletin board would be cute done up with musical notes.

I like to buy old paperback books, especially ones with yellowed pages, and make wreaths with them.  I also like to look at frames to spray paint and use as trays or jewelry hangers (see Pinterest).

Kim those are wonderful ideas!

I have a friend that is a photographer that will buy the old chunky picture frames and use them in photo booths for a prop.

I think Pinterest has made SOOO many people rethink buying 'used' stuff and helped them understand the concept of trash into treasure! So much better for our earth this way!!

I buy a lot of things strictly for the materials. Pillowcases make quick and easy dresses for little girls, or tops or minis for adults. Sheets can be used to make women's dresses or skirts. Mens button downs can be used for just about anything. One of my favorite skirts was a 30 minute sewing project from one of those. I also butcher the largest gowns I can find. TONS of fabric on those. Pullover sweaters can be turned into cardigans by just grabbing a pair of scissors and adding some bias tape. You can repurpose just about any item of clothing for very little oop.
