Dresser Drawer Smell

OK, we are borrowing an old Dresser right now. I noticed today that when I took out a t-shirt it had a funky smell similar to the old wood inside the dresser.

Does anyone have any tips on how to keep my clothes smelling fresh within my dresser!?!?!?

maybe put some baking soda in the drawer for a few days to absorb the smell or I have heard that newspaper works too. Maybe even just put dryer sheets in with your clothes to make them smell good. Don't really know.

I would say put dryer sheets in each drawer too. Other than that Im not sure what you should do. Sorry I cant be of more help. Hope you find an answer though.

I was going to say the dryer sheet, too, but I think that baking soda is a good idea.

from Blessed with 6......

WalMart sells a mesh bag of lava rocks (small sized bag..about the size of a man's hand!!) in the pet department. These things are WONDERFUL. They take out ALL smells! They are made for cat litter boxes, but dd bought a car that had been owned by a smoker. She left them in for a few days, and they absorbed ALL of the smell. For good. I think they are under $4, too!!

Wow! Thanks for all of the wonderful tips!! I love this message board!
I might have to check out the Lava Rocks and throw in some Dryer Sheets for good measure.

In the mean time, my t-shirts are just hung in the closet!!

LOL Wow!!! I get around, huh??? They really DO work, though. We have used them in several instances in or around my house. They are REusable, too. You just set them out in the sun to let the sun absorb the "ick" back out of them!

Will those rock bags take the smell out form a teenager boys bedroom????

Is it a real wood dresser or the particle board? I have stopped putting clothes in the dresser in our room because it's the cheap particle board dresser. We are getting a wood dresser from my dad and just need to figure out what color to paint it.

We bought a NEW (pressed wood) dresser that smelled funky...like wood and chemicals UGH! I took all the drawers out and had hubby spray them with a can of polyeurthene. It worked!

Thanks for the tip on the lava rocks!
