In Need of Ways to Hang Stockings

Help! I'm trying to figure out what to do with our stockings this year. Last year I had a shelf that had hooks on it, but this year it is being used for something else. I don't have a mantle. What are some creative ways to hang them?

We don't have a mantle either so my DH is making me a plaque kind of thing at work with hooks on it. It is going to say "the stockings were hung..." and the at the bottom where the hooks are Dad, Mom and the kids names (including the baby due in FEB). This way I can reusue it every year!

We have a mantle, and I do hang stockings there but more for decorating, they aren't the stockings the kids use. Somehow we got in this tradition of putting them on their doorknobs to their bedroom doors. Probably connected to St Nicholas tradition where you put your shoes outside your bedroom door.

I hang mine for decoration on a big framed mirror in the living room. I just use thumb tacks on the top where you can't see them. When "Santa" fills them, he just leaves them on the floor below the mirror.

I love it!!!!! I'm sending a pic of it to DH so I can get him to make us one. We only hang ours for decoration until Christmas Eve. When Santa fills them he sits them by the presents for that person. I usually overfill them and don't want to tear them by hanging them when they are stuffed.

I've never had a mantle but a few years ago I actually bought a stocking "tree" from LTD or somewhere like that. I ordered it from one of those magazines that come every now and then. I believe it was around $20 and holds six stockings.

It's something like this but mine is just plain black wrought-iron.

I have screws under our breakfast bar that faces into the livingroom. I hang them there, they add the decorative touch and are out of the way.
