How much does a gallon of milk cost in your area? - Page 3

Lately, Martins super market has had it on sale for 2.29 a gallon. I get enough for 2 weeks depending on the expiration dates

Here in my expensive area (Canada) a 2L of milk (about 1/2 gallon) is $2.89-$3.39 (or even more). Thankfully, there are no hormones or antibiotic in our milk (it is illegal here). I go with the cheap $2.89 one. I don't buy the 4L jugs because it would likely go bad before I could use it all. I just looked up the price for a 4L jug (about 1 gallon) online and found them for $4.99 and up. Things are definitely more expensive here.

mild usually runs about $2.78 to $3.14 a gallon here. There was a local site here where the woman was saying she buys the mild close to expiration date and freezes it because she gets it for only $1 - $1.25, and its fine once she defrosts it. Did anyone ever hear of that? I'm kind of skeptical but she says that the expiration date is really only a sell by date???

We buy our milk at Costco because it is the hormone free kind and it's the cheapest. We hate the square container, but at $1.98 a gallon it can't be beat. Sometimes it goes up to $2.19, but it's been under $2 for a while now.
