What kind of store brand or generic macaroni and cheese is your favorite?

If you buy store brand or generic macaroni and cheese as opposed to Kraft, what is your go-to brand? Besides price, why do you like it?

I have NEVER found a decent generic mac and cheese, EVER. Costco did a sample of theirs one time but honestly, I think they faked me out because when I got home, made it, it was nasty.

I always make it homemade...to us that is our 'go to' mac & cheese. The packaged stuff just tastes gross to us.

My kids didn't have Kraft Boxed Mac & Cheese until they were school aged and ate it at other people's houses. My one son was having lunch at a friends house and she served it. He'd never had it before. So he's sitting there staring at it and asks her what it is and she says "it's Mac & Cheese!" and he had some and said "no...it's not". LOL! It was the most hilarious thing, because he was so deadpan about it, she could imitate him completely. We laughed about that for years.

I always buy Aldi's brand. It tastes just as good as Kraft to me and no one at my house has ever complained.

I like the great value shells & cheese at walmart. I like the flavor of the cheese better, it's a little sharper than the velveeta.

I always buy the store brands..Aldi or Save A Lot. Nobody cares. If I feel the need to, I just add a little bit of cheese and mix it in. My family loves my mac and cheese regardless of what the box looks like.

I always make my own.

But if the have the cheap stuff on sale and the box stuff is cheaper than just plain noodles. I buy tons and throw the cheap fake powder stuff away, cook the noodles, add cheese, milk and butter and I am good to go.

Just the other day, I found Kraft mac & cheese (the kind with the powder) on sale for 50 cents a box. I bought 10 boxes. I threw all of the powder out (I did save one for dh's popcorn), and put the mac in a glass container with a lid.

This will be great for mac & cheese, pasta salad, tomatoes and pasta and anything else I need pasta for.

Same here. I do add a handful of shredded cheese and stir it in to melt it. Makes it cheesier which my oldest likes.

I used to buy the Walmart brand. I tried it a few times and asked DH if he liked it. He couldn't tell a difference. I thought it tasted a bit more like homemade might taste. (not sure why I thought that, but I did) We ate it for quite a while. Then a couple of times I went, they were out of the Walmart brand, so I started buying Kraft again. I have since found a few deals and stocked up, but once it's gone I may have to try the generic again to see what we think now!
