I was going to post about egg hunt ideas this year, but decided to bump this post up from last year instead.
So far we have done:
- Each kid gets to look for two colors. (This was back when my little brother was still hunting with my dd and nephew. Now we have too many eggs that are different designs to make this work for dd and my two nephews.)
- Poem like clues for each kid to find his/her surprise from g'ma.
- Treasure map pieces hidden in some of the eggs, and dd and nephew had to work together putting the map together and finding their prize. My oldest brother figured out where it was and went and hid it again and left another note while they were out following the map. (The little sneak.) But the kids thought that was just hilarious.
- A couple of years ago, I put all these ridiculous things they had to do in order to earn their prize, like knock on a neighbor's door and tell them, "Happy Easter", make up a dance to "Here Comes Peter Cottontail", pretend to lay an egg, give their new baby cousin (who still happened to be in sil's belly) a kiss, etc.
Looking for something new this year. I'd love to do the nighttime glow in the dark hunt, but this is the first year my littlest nephew will be able to hunt, and that will be too complicated for him. Any ideas??? I thought about making the kids look up Bible verses or something, and brother or sil will just have to help little nephew. Any other ideas would be helpful, too!
