When doing laundry one way to cut the cost is to wash in COLD water. By doing this you can cut 90% of your cost of washing clothes, since heating the water is that much of your expense in washing your clothes. Wash Clothes in Cold Water

In today's market there is a lot of improvements with the laundry soaps, which are made more specific towards washing in Cold water.
I make my own laundry soap and don't notice a difference in the cleanliness of my clothes from hot to cold, so now I NEVER wash in anything but cold. If I need to whiten my clothes any I just add a bit of bleach. Which you can find for whites or colored clothes.

Do you wash all your clothes in Cold Water? Do you notice a difference in your utility bill?

Yes, I wash most of our clothes in cold. I have no idea about the utility bill. I'm not doing it to save money, I'm doing it to maintain the clothing as best as possible, and cold water definately makes a difference in the items we own/wear.

I do two types of loads. Dark and light. Dark I always do in cold; light in warm. I'm not sure I would notice enough of a difference in my utility load by switching my lights to cold.

No.

I wash towels, washclothes, kitchen towels and bedsheets in one load with color safe bleach and in very hot water. I also wash underwear in a seperate load with bleach and very hot water.

Everything else, does get wash in cold water.

I wash everything in cold except towels unless someone has been sick and then we wash towels, sheets/pillowcases, and undies in hot with bleach. I have not noticed a difference because I've always done this.

I do the same thing. I am not going to take the chance that there are hidden germs left on my clothes.
