Ok, I know you have some there are your house just like I did at mine ~ things to return to the store!!
I dread making returns, but with our new frugal lifestyle and simplifying life I wanted to return stuff to get credit on our cc, and declutter. I went to a total of six stores today and returned stuff!
At the first store Walmart, I didn't have any receipts but since it was under $25 they gave me cash anyway, no questions. I used the money saved to buy needed (generic) medicnes for ds that we were low on and still had $8 left. So then I had to return some stuff to Michaels and since I didn't have the reciept they gave me a credit. I was a little bummed, since I didn't need anything, but I checked out their toy section and found a birthday gift for a party ds is going to. Everything was in the box, but the box tape was broken. I asked if they'd give me anything off of it, and they gave me 25% off! So to go along with it I bought a little something else, but used my leftover Wal-mart refund $ for it. I made the other returns, and got gift card credit because of not having receipts, but they are stores that have little luxury items (BBW, etc.) for when I need to buy a little gift or something.
Lastly I went to the Dollar store where (again) I did not have my receipt. I had 28 items to return from when I was stockpiling. Well, they would not give me $ back which was fine, I didn't have my receipt. But they told me I had to do an even exchange today - I couldn't get a gift card to use later. So dh and I went up and down aisles looking for things we always use and need, - cleaners, gift bags, etc. When we got home we were laden with things we will Really use and need: Cleaners, food, cleaning wipes, wax paper, sports botles for our water, etc. We came out of there with six bags of goods!!
You know the best part? When I did my Target return they credited it to my cc. Well I went into the store, and went to the CD I was looking at a few time longingly. It was only $10, and I really liked the sound of it (Italian 'dinner' music). Well, I thought and thought, and walked out of there. I kept thinking, "I'll bet I can get this from the Library, or something similar to it". I felt so good when I returned home, truly 'many happy returns'!
