What are some tips, tricks, or techniques to help others with paper piecing?!?

I must admit, I've never really figured out what paper piecing is. Is that just where you cut a shape out of paper? Or pieces of a shape and put them together?

Here is the definition I found online.

Paper Piecing - What is Paper Piecing?

Oh ok I didn't know what it was but come to find out I do it all the time lol. My biggest tip is to find good patterns that compliment a plain color card stock. If I put a stamp on that I go for white paper if the pattern is really busy. I'm adding a pic so you can see what I mean. The top card's paper had a lot of white between the blocks so I chose to layer with the stamp on color. The bottom card's pattern is more of a cream bases so I chose white for the stamp, also for ease of coloring it, and framing it in black to pop out more from the stripes.

I guess sometimes I cut a design from patterned paper, but I don't really use stamps other than for greeting cards.

Paper Piecing does not have to be just done with stamps. You can take any shapes cut them out of any paper and "piece" them together to make a whole item.

Here are some examples of patterns for paper piecing.....

Any paper dolls from the cricut could be considered pieced......

Here is a card where I used paper piecing w/stamps.....I stamped the cupcake on the cardstock then stamped again on pp and cut out the wrapper and layered it on.

another example is the girl on this card....you can see the original stamp in the background but for the focal girl I also stamped/cut the shirt on green and the skirt on purple.
