Using Homemade Laundry Detergent for Baby?

What do you think about using homemade laundry detergent on baby's clothes?

Ellie Mae's homemade laundry detergent recipe can be made with fragrance-free soap.

Many members say they never used special detergent for baby, or that they used the Free & Clear - Dreft still has fragrance and dyes in it.

What do you think? Is it safe for baby? Better than regular laundry soap?

We use Dreft at our house. I haven't tried to make any detergent. But I would think that as long as your baby doesn't have any skin reactions to different detergents, the homemade one would probably work as well!

I use home-made laundry detergent for all of our laundry - including sheets/towels/clothes for my 14-month-old. I've been using it since shortly after she was born. I've never used a special detergent, though. Before I started making my own, I just used regular laundry detergent.
Also, the home made kind works well for my husband, who has sensitive skin and is allergic to some laundry products. I would take that as a good sign.

I would think it would be fine. I used Dreft when Ds was first born. If/when we have second child I will use the homemade laundry soap. I make mine with Ivory soap and cannot think of anything that could irritate their skin. Besides if I was really worried about it, I would just run them through an extra rinse cycle.
