Ok
THis is a secret SHHHHHHHHH I think one time I was gonna give this recipe to my mom and dh about had a fit. It has been handed down on his moms side of the family and they guard it.
So it will be our little secret!!
GERMAN SPAGHETTI
1 Large can tomaotes ( I cheat and buy diced tomatoes even though Grandma never did!)
1 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup shopped onion
1/2 cup olive oil
Salt & pepper
1/2 cup butter(1 cube)
1 Package spaghetti (12oz)
1 Clove garlic

Boil spaghetti until tender. Rinse & drain. BOil celery until tender - drain. (Again I am all about easy and I throw the celery in with the spaghetti for the last couple of minutes ( don't tell Grandma Fry onion. Strain the tomatoes and put in large pot (I use the pot that the spaghetti was cooked in)Add fine cut garlic, celery, onion & olive oil. Turn burner on about 4 or 5 and add spaghetti. Cook for a couple of minutes and then add the butter stir well until all is bubbling. Put in fridge overnight. Bake 45 minutes to an hour in a preheated 350 degree oven. The spaghetti should have a cover of foil over it for about 30 to 45 minutes. The last 15 minutes or so take the foil off and the spaghetti on top gets little crunchy parts. THis is dh's favorite part. Oh I'm sorry it fits in a 13x9x2 pan. Its really good the next day also. We usually make this with ham.
Enjoy and please keep it a secret

This sounds interesting. It's almost like a goulash flavor then, right?

Since reading this post I have been curious about German Spaghetti.  I had honestly never heard of it before, and am still not sure what makes it German.  That said, a lot of the recipes I found also included bacon.  So, I followed the recipe above but I browned a pound of bacon first and then sautéed the onion, garlic, and celery in the bacon drippings.  I did the rest of the recipe the same as above.  We added a little freshly grated Parmesan on top, too.  It was delicious!  Thanks to the original poster for introducing me to German Spaghetti.  :)

My MIL makes this, she uses 4 slices of crumbled bacon, crushed tomatoes and spaghetti noodles with a hole in them.

Simple and yum!
