Usually homemade. I do the 50/50 sheet cakes sometimes, if I don't have time to make chocolate and vanilla and don't want to listen to random kids whining that they don't like whatever flavor I chose to do. I made a carrot cake one time, you would have thought I told each child I just killed their dog the way they moaned and carried on.
Next year I'm just baking birthday brownies. Maybe some special ones for me so I don't have to be annoyed by other people's children
That's funny! Because when we had ds' birthday party in December, I also had kids whining that they didn't like chocolate. I looked them in the face and said, "Oh, I'm sorry. It is ds' favorite". I would think that 4th graders would be more polite than that, and was really annoyed and it didn't bother me the least and I certainly didn't say it like I was sorry. I said it like, "well though Cr@p,!" Honestly the same boy said the same thing when I brought in cupcakes for ds. "I don't like chocolate". I said the same thing in the same tone. So you don't like it I'm not forcing it down your throat!
